Ideal Virtual World by jag188

Asking a person to imagine an entire virtual world is like trying to guess the color of paint that is going to come from a paintball gun.

April 17, 2010, 4:34 pm - [1]

Each and every person is going to have a different answer to that question. What is worse is that even if you do manage to create one,

April 17, 2010, 4:36 pm - [2]

there will never be enough words to describe all of it.

April 17, 2010, 4:37 pm - [3]

I am not saying that it is impossible, quite the contrary actually, but what I am saying is that people are diverse and complicated.

April 17, 2010, 4:38 pm - [4]

One person may want to be a wizard, but also might want to skateboard. Sure, you could make a world that has both, but what is the point?

April 17, 2010, 4:39 pm - [5]

The reason that virtual worlds are so interesting is the flavor that they have, or in other words, the story and way the events tie into it.

April 17, 2010, 4:40 pm - [6]

Running around shooting fireballs and doing kick-flips, as cool as that might be, is just a collection of things you want to do.

April 17, 2010, 4:41 pm - [7]

In light of all this, I have still tried to imagine my ideal virtual world.

April 17, 2010, 4:44 pm - [8]

My ideal virtual world would be set in our current time, and it would be set on my college campus.

April 17, 2010, 7:37 pm - [9]

The reasoning behind this is that I want to live in my world, but be able to do more than just be human, I want to alter my world I live in.

April 17, 2010, 7:38 pm - [10]

I would want to be myself, but I would want to have the power to alter the world in new ways.

April 17, 2010, 7:47 pm - [11]

I would want to be able to learn to fly, or learn to blink from one location to another, or turn sound into light and control it.

April 17, 2010, 7:48 pm - [12]

This would be a world in which I would be able to make new worlds inside of it, in order to play anything out I might want.

April 17, 2010, 7:49 pm - [13]

I would jump into a portal and be transferred to a battlefield, and I would be a fighter. I would want there to be depth to the world.

April 17, 2010, 7:49 pm - [14]

A world without story might as well be a flat piece of land, because you can't really get too much out of it.

April 17, 2010, 7:51 pm - [15]

I want to be able to wake up one morning in the world, and there to be some sort of invasion.

April 17, 2010, 7:53 pm - [16]

It is the kind of thing that allows anything to happen.

April 17, 2010, 7:54 pm - [17]

Finding out that humans have a secret reserve of energy that can be used to fuel ability enhancing suits would be awesome.

April 17, 2010, 7:55 pm - [18]

Being able to use that suit to fight against alien invaders, as cheesy as it sounds, would be something I would want to do.

April 17, 2010, 7:56 pm - [19]

The problem is there are many things like that I would want to do, so I would want a world from which I could jump into other worlds from.

April 17, 2010, 7:56 pm - [20]

I like the concept of protecting others. I feel odd just fighting for no reason, and it is no fun. I need that element in order to fight.

April 17, 2010, 8:00 pm - [21]

It is because of this that I need storyline and I need flavor in the world. I want limitations inside the sub-worlds I would jump into.

April 17, 2010, 8:01 pm - [22]

The main world would be one in which I could just live a life normally, but be capable of amazing things.

April 17, 2010, 8:02 pm - [23]

The sub-worlds would be ones of chaos and danger, ones in which I could be the hero of the story, or even the villain.

April 17, 2010, 8:03 pm - [24]

One of those sub-world would be one just like our world, but under the attack of aliens and there would be an energy we discover in humans.

April 17, 2010, 8:05 pm - [25]

Aliens would have these suits they use to make themselves more powerful, and they use this energy that we discovered due to their entrance.

April 17, 2010, 8:05 pm - [26]

I would fight back against them, and I would learn to use the energy to power their own suits, I would protect and save people.

April 17, 2010, 8:06 pm - [27]

Maybe in another world I would have the ability to alter earth and fire, and people could control elements.

April 17, 2010, 8:07 pm - [28]

Even a world in which I was weak and would need to grow to be able to survive would be interesting for me.

April 17, 2010, 8:08 pm - [29]

Any universe that allows me to gain distinct abilities, but not be a god and able to do anything I want, is one I want to play in.

April 17, 2010, 8:08 pm - [30]

There is something about the concept of omnipotence that bores me. Being able to just erase people from existence is not cool to me.

April 17, 2010, 8:09 pm - [31]

However, being able to teleport them from this world and leave them between our universe and another is awesome to me.

April 17, 2010, 8:10 pm - [32]

I like to be able to use abilities in new and interesting ways, but still being bound by limitations of the world I am in.

April 17, 2010, 8:10 pm - [33]

By having a world in which I have omnipotence I can create other ones in which I am not and play in them.

April 17, 2010, 8:11 pm - [34]

The long and the short of it is that I have too many ideas to combine into one, so I would want a world in which I could create new options.

April 17, 2010, 8:18 pm - [35]

If you were given the chance to create any world you wanted, why would you limit yourself to just one?

April 17, 2010, 8:24 pm - [36]

It is like your friends. Why should you only have one? What is the fun in only having one friend? Variety is a good thing.
